A Day in the Life of an SMS Student

Every day at SMS is one to remember! Our daily schedule is designed to emphasize balance and cultivate well-rounded students. There’s time for engaged classroom learning and quiet independent study as well as for lively communal meals in the dining hall, relaxing and adventuring with friends, and pursuing hobbies.

7:30 a.m.

Breakfast

Start the day off right with a nutritious-style breakfast at Alexis Hall, where you can connect with friends before heading out to class.

8:30 a.m.

Classroom Learning

Whether exploring forms of poetry in English class, rehearsing in Musical Theatre, or exploring new technologies in Engineering, you can deepen your knowledge and venture beyond your comfort zone in every class.

12:30 p.m.

Lunch

Back at Alexis Hall, connect with your friends over lunch, where you’ll enjoy a variety of healthy meals and often get to experience international cuisines that connect with what you’re learning in class!

1:30 p.m.

Classroom Learning

Embrace experiential learning! Spend your afternoon testing out hypotheses in one of our three science labs, making a striking piece of furniture in our woodworking lab, or getting creative in the media lab.

3:30 p.m.

Extracurriculars

It’s time to dive into your interests, whether that’s playing tennis, exploring your creativity in Art, or strengthening your language skills in English language class.

5:30 p.m.

Dinner

The official school day may be over, but there’s still lots of fun to be had! Over delicious meals provided by SAGE dining, catch up with your friends and revisit the highlights of the day.

6:15 p.m.

PREP

Get out your sticky notes, highlighters, and to-do lists! Now’s the time to get organized. SMS students are given quiet time to work on any homework or prepare for upcoming exams.

8:30 p.m.

Free Time

Work out at the on-campus gym or dance studio, curl up with a book, or chat with your friends—this time is yours for relaxation, fun, or fitness.

9:30–11 p.m.

Downtime & Lights Out

After doing so much, you’ll welcome the opportunity to wind down and get some rest. After all, another exciting day on campus starts tomorrow!
